Boreholes and water
Where rain is not enough, a borehole gives you water you control. We site it by survey, size the pump to it, add storage, and treat the water where it needs treatment.

For
Farms, hotels, schools, hospitals, estates, factories, water service providers and county water departments.
Scope
What the work covers.
- Hydrogeological surveys to site a borehole
- Environmental impact assessment where the law requires one
- Borehole drilling, casing, development and test pumping
- Submersible and solar pump installation
- Elevated and ground tanks, and geomembrane-lined ponds
- Shallow wells where the water table allows
- Water treatment and wastewater works: tanks, metering, valves, pumps, motors, switchgear and variable frequency drives
What you receive
What you receive.
The documents and services this kind of job includes.
Document 01
The survey report
The proposed drilling point and the depth range the survey expects, before you commit to drilling.
Document 02
The line-by-line quotation
Drilling per metre, casing, development, test pumping, pump, tank and pipework, each priced on its own line.
ProposedDocument 03
Test pumping and water quality results
The yield the borehole gives over the test, and a laboratory analysis of the water.
Document 04
A completion record
Depth, casing, yield and pump details, with what you need for your Water Resources Authority records.
How it runs
From the first visit to handover.
- 01
Site visit
We listen to how much water you need and what for, and look at the site.
- 02
Hydrogeological survey
A survey to choose where on your land to drill.
- 03
Permits
Kenya requires an authorisation from the Water Resources Authority before drilling, and an environmental assessment for some sites. We prepare the applications with you.
- 04
Drilling and test pumping
We drill, case, develop and test-pump the borehole to measure its yield.
- 05
Pump, storage and pipework
A pump sized to the measured yield, storage and the pipework to where you use the water.
- 06
Handover
Water at the tap, the results and the completion record.

Questions
Asked before a quotation.
How deep will my borehole be?
The hydrogeological survey estimates a depth range for your site. Nobody can give a firm depth before the survey, and we do not.
Do I need a permit to drill?
Yes. Kenya requires an authorisation from the Water Resources Authority before a borehole is drilled, and some sites also need an environmental impact assessment. We prepare the applications with you.
Can the pump run on solar?
Yes. Solar pumping works where there is no grid power or where power is unreliable. See irrigation and solar pumping for how we size the system.
Which registration covers water works?
Elevion is registered with the NCA for building works and road works. Water works is a separate NCA class, and Elevion is not registered in it. Ask us how a specific tender is covered before you shortlist.

Next step
Ask for a quotation for boreholes and water.
Send drawings, a bill of quantities or a list if you have them. Tell us where and by when.
